SWELL Student Assistant

Responsibilities:
  • Help the SWELL Course & Extramural Sports Coordinator with organization, coordination, and execution of SWELL classes and women's Extramural Sports
  • Correspond with instructors, coaches, students, and off-campus vendors
  • Supervise grade submissions at the end of each semester/term
  • Assist with program assessment and promotion
  • Other related tasks as required

  • Some statistical analysis and report writing experience (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Extremely well-organized
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently on large tasks

Extramural Sports Student Assistant

Responsibilities:
  • Communicate via email with extramural students, athletic trainers, head coaches, assistant coaches and administrators
  • Reconcile expenses for all six programs and administrators
  • Distribute packages to correct Extramural personnel as needed
  • Charge student player fees for all rostered players each semester
  • Perform roster eligibility checks for each team and communicate effectively with head coaches
  • Review class rolls to ensure students are enrolled in the correct STAC class
  • Manage grade checks at the end of each semester and credit eligibility for Extramural student athletes
  • Update the student assistant handbook
  • Attend Extramural home games as assigned and report back to administration
  • Purchase catering orders for office parties, trainings, and meetings
  • Keep meeting minutes and assignments
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of annual coach’s retreat
  • Update online team rosters, with photos and year in school 
  • Place online game schedules on men’s team website
  • Update Win/Loss records on men’s teams website
  • Design posters, print, and post them in Smith Fieldhouse and Richards Building areas
  • Plan and implement annual t-shirts and marketing campaigns for the program
  • Serve as liaison between Extramural Sports program and the Communications class interns
  • Attend Extramural home games for content creation and attend weekend games as assigned
  • Submit Extramural home game schedules to the University calendar
  • Assist Extramural Athletic Training Manager and Coordinator as directed by Program Manager
  • Assist with program assessment and social media promotion as assigned

  • Know how to use Qualtrics, Canva, Adobe and Brightspot for web purposes

Starting Pay: $12.50 per hour

Hours: 15-20 hours Monday-Friday (Flexible). Attendance at weekly meetings with Extramural administrators is required. You may be expected to cover extramural home games on some Saturdays.

Marketing Student Assistant

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and consistently update student wellness websites—receive content approval from wellness departments 
  • Assist Student Wellness Marketing team in planning and executing various projects and promotions
  • Collaborate with and regularly attend trainings hosted by the Student Wellness Marketing Student Manager 
  • Design and post physical/digital content using the following programs:
    • Canva
    • Photoshop
    • Illustrator
    • Premier Pro
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Brightspot and HTML (required)
  • Experience in photography and video editing
Most Common Hiring Periods: Every other year, as needed

Starting Pay: $12-$14 per hour

Hours: 20 per week (Flexible)

Aquatics Student Assistant

Responsibilities:
  • Helps BYU Community with the assignment/renewal of lockers and fingerprint access to locker rooms
  • Maintains and posts signage throughout the locker room facilities
  • Informs and educates patrons of locker room policies, cleanouts & closures
  • Reports or requests maintenance issues within the facility
  • Respond to patron inquiries via assigned email and phone
  • Works with Aquatics Manager to maintain accurate inventory & organization of locker room assignments, facility storage areas
  • Periodic research assignments of facility best policies
  • Maintains open communication with facility ops department
  • Updates and posts signage in the facilities
  • Regular meetings with Aquatics manager
  • Maintenance and upkeep of facility/pool equipment as necessary
  • Provide accurate reports of facility engagement
  • Respond to emergency situations as necessary
  • Follows established emergency action plan and procedures in the event of an emergency
  • Collaborate with Student Wellness & Facility Services employees
  • Provide general information on pool operations, as well as other Student Wellness programs
  • Attend scheduled trainings and meetings
  • Inspect facility safety and pool for cleanliness; perform facility safety checks, general pool cleaning and maintenance when required
  • Complete and maintain records of pool and area conditions, potential safety hazards, emergency medical treatments performed, and all relevant incident information
  • Assist with set-up and take-down of pool equipment
  • Work varied schedule including, early mornings, late nights, holidays and weekends
  • Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Available to consistently work 10 – 12 hours a week
  • BYU Student Employment Requirements
  • Understanding of Outlook, Microsoft & Facility software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations
  • Knowledge of facility/pool equipment and maintenance
  • Work effectively with people of different background, abilities, opinions and perceptions
  • Exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving skills- politely assertive, tact, patient, and diplomatic while dealing with complex problems
  • Attention to detail with high level of accuracy and the ability to adapt
  • American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Certification required
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
