POOLS
The BYU Richards Building Pool facility is located in the heart of the building accessible through both the men’s and women’s locker rooms.
All patrons are required to take a cleansing shower prior to entering the pools and wear BYU Student Wellness issued wristbands while utilizing the facilities.

SWIM ATTIRE POLICY
- Swim attire must cover appropriate body parts and be worn correctly. Women's suits must cover the midriff.
- All swim attire must be specifically made for swimming pool usage. Prohibited attire includes, but is not limited to: Athletic wear not made for swimming, compression shorts, leggings, basketball shorts, jeans, cotton clothing, & undergarments.
- Lifeguards may ask those not in compliance with this policy to change or cover-up prior to utilizing the BYU pools.
POOL POLICIES
- All patrons must take a cleansing shower prior to entering pools.
- All patrons are required to wear BYU Student Wellness issued wristbands while utilizing the RB pools.
- All patrons are required to adhere to the BYU Swim Attire Policy.
- Absolutely no swimming allowed without lifeguards on duty.
- Food, gum, glass & drinks other than water are prohibited on the pool deck.
- Breath holding and extended underwater swimming is not permitted.
- Horseplay in and around the water is not permitted.
- Diving into the pools is only permitted at a water depth of 9ft or greater.
- Starting blocks are not available for individual use.
- Swimming under the bulkhead is not permitted.
- No sitting or hanging on lane lines.
- Avoid hanging on and touching the basketball rims or nets.
- All personal flotation devices must be U.S. Coast Guard approved.
- Children under 5 are prohibited from swimming at the RB Pools.
- An adult must be within arm's reach of any child in a lifejacket. Ratio must be 1:1 adult & child.
- All patrons 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older.
- Do not use the pools if you have had diarrhea within the last two weeks.
- Do not use the pools if you have an open wound.
- All pool equipment needs to be used appropriately.
- Patrons must be respectful of other patrons and lifeguards.
- All patrons must walk on the pool deck, running is not permitted.
- Public displays of affection are not permitted.
DIVING BOARD RULES
- One diver at a time.
- Loitering on the boards, platforms or in the dive well is prohibited.
- Divers must exit the dive well immediately upon entering the water & avoid crossing the path of an alternate diving board or platform.
- Goggles & lifejackets or loose jewelry are not to be worn on diving boards or platforms.
- Running on the boards or platforms is prohibited.
- Handstands, cartwheels, reverse dives, inward dives, sitting starts and gainers are not permitted on the diving boards or platforms.
- The fulcrum must always be in the 1st position and should not be moved.
- A water competency test will need to be successfully completed with a lifeguard for those under the age of 12 prior to utilizing the diving boards.
Supplemental safety enforcement is subject to the discretion of the lifeguards.
Noncompliant patrons will be required to leave the facility.
